Marlow – New Build Smart Home

What began as a conversation about a dedicated cinema room soon developed into a much wider discussion about how the rest of the home should function. For this client, technology wasn’t about complexity or features – it was about making everyday living simpler.

Set within a large, modern new-build bungalow in Marlow, the goal was to create a smart home that worked quietly in the background, helping the client without ever feeling technical or overwhelming.

A Smart Home Built on a Solid Foundation

At the core of the system is a UniFi network installed throughout the property, providing a reliable backbone for every connected element in the home. A strong network ensures that all systems operate smoothly, without dropouts, delays, or frustration.

We also implemented UniFi Protect, integrating Hikvision CCTV cameras into a single, easy-to-use security platform. This gives the client clear visibility of their home through one simple app, rather than juggling multiple systems.

Simple, Intuitive Control Where It Matters

For access and communication, we installed a Control4 doorbell, allowing the client to see and speak to visitors easily.

A Control4 touchscreen provides a central point of control within the home, offering straightforward access to lighting, audio, and security. The interface is designed to be clear and intuitive, making it ideal for a client who wanted technology to feel helpful – not complicated.

Lighting That Makes Life Easier

Lighting was upgraded using Control4 retrofit lighting, allowing us to modernise the system without major structural changes. While the technology behind it is advanced, the experience for the client is refreshingly simple.

Rather than managing individual switches or settings, the client now uses lighting scenes that suit real-life scenarios – such as evening relaxation, entertaining, or night-time routines. This is where smart home technology truly shines: complex systems working together to create simple, one-touch solutions.

Whole-Home Audio, Made Effortless

We installed Sonance in-ceiling speakers in multiple rooms, paired with WiiM amplifiers for music streaming. The speakers remain discreet, while the control experience stays consistent and easy to use.

Music can be enjoyed in individual rooms or throughout the home, all without technical setup or visible equipment. Everything is designed to feel natural and effortless.

The client has been extremely pleased with the outcome, finding the system even more helpful than they originally imagined. What was once a collection of individual systems is now a single, intuitive experience that genuinely enhances day-to-day living.
