Project Spotlight: Elevated Relaxation at The Private Spa, Stratford

Creating a premium spa experience isn’t just about how a space looks, it’s about how it works. The best technology is the kind you don’t really notice, it just quietly does its job and makes the experience better. We recently completed a full technology integration at The Private Spa in Stratford, bringing together control, security, and atmosphere in a way that supports both guests and staff.

From the outset, the brief was clear: deliver a reliable, future-ready system that could cope with the demands of a multi-zone, high-humidity spa environment, while remaining simple to use day to day.

Immersive Audio & Atmospheric Lighting

Audio and lighting play a huge role in setting the tone in a spa environment. Each of the three spas, along with the reception area, features a zoned audio system using weather-resistant ceiling speakers designed to cope with the humid conditions. Guests can easily connect via AirPlay or Chromecast and play their own music directly into their chosen spa, without affecting other areas.

Lighting throughout the venue is controlled via Control4, including full DMX colour-changing lighting in each spa. This allows the team to quickly set different lighting scenes depending on time of day or mood, from calm, cooler tones through to warmer evening settings, all at the touch of a button.

Secure Access & Seamless Connectivity

As with any commercial project, everything starts with the network. We installed a fully hardwired and wireless Ubiquiti UniFi network to provide consistent coverage throughout the building. This ensures stable performance for guest services, control systems, and back-of-house operations, without dropouts or dead spots.

Guest privacy and controlled access were also key considerations. To manage movement between the three individual spa areas, we integrated a Hikvision card access system. This allows secure, straightforward access while keeping each spa area private and exclusive to its allocated guests.

Simple Control & Smarter Operation

Reliability is especially important in a wet environment, so all control hardware was chosen with durability in mind. Each spa is fitted with Control4 touchscreens and engraved keypads, giving guests intuitive control over music and lighting without the need for instructions or staff intervention.

Behind the scenes, the system also supports the spa team. Using Control4’s automation capabilities, we programmed a number of practical alerts, including:

• Session reminders – discreet audio or lighting cues to let guests know when their session is nearing its end. 
• Staff assistance alerts – simple triggers that notify staff when a particular spa requires attention, helping the team respond quickly and efficiently. 

These small details make a big difference to day-to-day operation and overall guest experience.

The Result

The Private Spa, Stratford is now a great example of how well-implemented technology can enhance a hospitality environment without getting in the way. By bringing networking, access control, lighting, audio, and staff alerts into one cohesive system, the spa is easier to manage, more reliable, and more enjoyable for guests.
